- Dissolve 40 grams in 1 liter distilled water
- Adjust pH to 7.2
- Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes

LB Agar, Miller is a nutritionally rich media developed by Lennox for molecular genetics studies. This formulation contains 10.0g/L of sodium chloride, compared to 5.0g/L in LB Agar, Lennox. Fluid Thioglycollate Medium (FTM) with Indicator is a general purpose medium recommended for sterility testing and for the cultivation of anaerobes, aerobes, and microaerophiles. Casein and yeast extract provide nitrogen, essential vitamins, and amino acids. Glucose provides a carbon source, sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, and L-cystine and sodium thioglycollate act as reducing agents. This is supported by a low amount of agar, which reduces the oxygen permeability through the medium. Resazurin is an oxidation indicator. Lauryl Sulfate Broth (LSB) is a selective broth utilized for the qualitative detection of coliforms in samples of sanitary importance. The coliform group of bacteria includes aerobic and facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative, non-spore forming bacilli that ferment lactose and form acid and gas at 35°C within 48 hours. Members of Enterobacteriaceae comprise the majority of this group, but organisms such as Aeromonas spp. may also be included. VTEC does not ferment sorbitol (i.e. - sorbitol-negative), while non-VTEC Escherichia coli are sorbitol-positive.
